The Kewn line joins our tree with the marriage of Mary Kewn and John Kirk. I have included that generation to give continuity

Mary Jane Kewn
Birth: 1851
Baptised: 17 Mar at St. Peters Liverpool

James and Mary's children:
Margaret Ellen Birth: <1880>
James Birth: <1881>
John Birth: 4 Feb 1884 Death: 12 Jun 1934

Father, John and Mary's sister, Diana are with the Kirks at the time of the 1881 Census.

James Kirk
Birth: <1840> at Liverpool
Marriage: Dec 1870

It appears that James may have remarried by the time of the 1891 Census. ( His second wife: Annie B: <1850> at Liverpool)
Birth and Christening information shows that James and Mary Jane are John's parents. Annie is John's wife on the 1891 census.

The 1891 Census finds the Kirks living at 70 Robsart St, Everton, Liverpool. James (51) was employed as a Dock Labourer, Shipping. Our John was seven years old
1891 Census

John Kewn
Birth: 1821 Baptism: 18 Feb at Saint Peters, Liverpool

The 1851 Census shows John and Margaret living in Toxteth Park and Mary is their only child at two months of age. John shows his occupation as 'shipwright' as father William. By the time of the 1871 census they have moved to Howe St, Everton. By 1881 John is widowed and he is with daughter Mary as is daughter, Diana

I found a census entry for the 1901 Census. It shows John Kewn, 81, Widower as an inmate of the Walton-on-the-Hill (West Derby) Workhouse. Learn more about the workhouse at this website.

The 1841 Census shows the family living in Blundell St. Liverpool. William gives his occupation as 'shipwright' as does John and younger brother, Thomas

William and Diana's Children:
John Birth: 1821 Baptism: 18 Feb at Saint Peters, Liverpool

Diana Gordon

Death: 1861

The 1841 Census states that Diana was 'not born in the county' (Lancashire) the later, 1861 census gives more detail and Diana states that she was born in Middlesex, London. They are living at 30 Cooper St, Toxteth Park, Liverpool. Next door at 28 lives son, Thomas with his wife, Elizabeth and family
