Return to the Albrow Family Tree

The first reference point for the Albrows, in the Kirk and Dobbs tree is Margaret Kirk, who married Herbert Albrow. Thanks to Angela for the information which got us started on this page

The last point of reference on the Albrow tree is repeated here to help with continuity.

Margaret Kirk
Birth: 10 Nov 1922 Liverpool, Lancashire

I have complied with the convention of minimising details of living members of the tree.

Herbert Stanley Albrow

John Kirk
Birth: 4 Feb 1884
Christened: at St Ambrose, Everton on 24 Feb 1884
Marriage: 13 Dec 1903 at St Mary's Church, Kirkdale
Death: 12 June 1934.
Buried: Ford R.C. Cemetry, 16 Jun 1934 Plot 403
See John's Army page. here

At the time of the wedding John and Margaret seem to be living in the same neighbourhood. John was at 28 Latham Street. and Margaret was at 49 Latham Street. The 1911 Census shows them living at 23 Major St. Close by at no. 37 lives Mary Dobbs. (They use Dobbs and not Kirk on the Census) They had had two children by that date but neither had survived. John dies at: Walton General Hospital, 107 Rice Lane, Walton, Liverpool.
1911 Census Death certificate

The Prince Arthur, Rice Lane, Liverpool

John seems to have used the surnames Kirk and Dobbs which makes research a bit of a challenge. We do know that he served in the First World War in the R.F.A.(Royal Field Artillery) Regulars "C" Battery: Army No. 96789.

Thanks, Angela for all the help with the site!!!

James Kirk
Birth: <1840> at Liverpool
Marriage: Dec 1870

It appears that James may have remarried by the time of the 1891 Census. ( His second wife: Annie Birth:<1850> at Liverpool) Birth and Christening information shows that James and Mary Jane are John's parents. Annie is James' wife on the 1891 census.

The 1891 Census finds the Kirks living at 70 Robsart St, Everton, Liverpool. James (51) was employed as a Dock Labourer, Shipping. Our John was seven years old
