the 1901 census Alfred is nine years old and a groom. Later, in
the First World War, Alfred served in the Royal Medical Corps
in Solonika, Greece contracting malaria whilst there.

first child Emily.
After the
marriage they lived at 210, Lion St London. With
the conclusion of the war they opened a wet and fried Fishmongers
shop at 63, Nunhead Lane, Peckham ( Peggy was of school age when
the fishmongers was in operation). The twins were born in the
accomodation above the shop. After the Second World War, they
sold the fishmongers and went into the off-licence trade in 12,
Markhouse Road , Walthamstow.
After Alfred's
death, May moved to 11, Chippenham Road, Romford,and later to
3, Cowley Road, Romford, Her last house was 17, Ramsey Gardens,
Romford,
Emily passed away on Christmas Day 2000 aged 85,
